Biography

James Owen Dew Hall is a creative storyteller born and raised in Richmond, Virginia. An African American filmmaker, editor, and sound designer with a focus on directing, he brings experience in acting, screenwriting, production sound, music composition, and multiple production departments. His work blends experimentation and genre to teach and entertain, exploring Afro-Futurism, Surrealism, Absurdism, dreamscapes, documentary forms, and themes of mental health and the human experience. While his long-term goal is to establish himself as a writer-director, He remains dedicated to collaborating with fellow filmmakers and clients, helping amplify their stories through strong creative partnerships both on set and in life.
